I can smell Winter, coming
I grew up in a hills suburb in Perth Western Australia, where a childhood was spent roaming through the bush. A number of quilt design have been inspired by memories from my childhood. This quilt is based on a memory from Autumn, specifically a late autumn afternoon, I remember the day having a chill in the air and the smell of damp rotting leaves and the colours were muted but vibrant-blues, browns and purples, and had this somewhat melancholy thought/feeling of summer dying.
The quilt designs are deliberately simple both for ease of construction and as with many of my early quilts, I have been strongly influenced by Amish quilts- in the use of solid colour fabrics.
